At Hot Wells Shooting Range, no matter what type of gun they’re loading, it is costing more said firearms instructor Donavan Lamar. “Everyone that shoots is feeling it from the deer hunter to the casual shooter it’s a lot harder for them to go out and pay for that ammo.” “We got ammunition now selling at $17 a box of 60. A year a go it was selling for $11 a box of 50,” said Carl Phinney who works at Jim Pruett’s Guns and Ammo. DENVER — Sales of handguns, rifles and ammunition have surged in the last week, according to gun store owners around the nation who describe a wave of buyers concerned that an Obama administration will curtail their right to bear arms.
“The Second Amendment says that I have the right to bear arms,” Donovan Lamar of Guardian Defensive Shooting said. In reality, Lamar’s answer is close, but not quite on target. “When I hear the Second Amendment, I hear the right to protect yourself and your family,” Jim Pruett of Jim Pruett’s Guns and Ammo said.
