I'm the 1st to admit I'm no "Rambo" or anything, I have handled and fired several pistols and rifles/shotguns of different gauges/calibers, but I have limited experience and never even owned a gun, until now at least...I feel we are living in an increasingly dangerous world and went ahead and bought a Remington 870 12ga 18" barrel pump shotgun for home defense purposes.
I hope I never need to use it for it's intended purpose (it's not exactly a suitable hunting gun) but being a novice, I thought I might be able to learn a thing or two from your site, and I want to get proficient in firing/using the gun so that is my primary interest at this time. I may, at a later time, be interested in a pistol and getting a CHL.(I have a clean background) I am 48, married with 2 teenage daughters. I listened to Jim for many years on 101 KLOL. Thanks for reading.

The Senate is trying to "backdoor" a bill to grant the 12-20 million illegals in this country AMNESTY as we speak, With the blessing of George "Hor-hey" Bush, completely circumventing the will of the American People in the process. This has grave, even catastrophic, consequences for our national sovereignty and security and I urge everyone in the strongest possible manner to contact their respective Senate representatives and DEMAND they vote NO on the Amnesty bill. Texas Senate contact info:
Sen. John Cornyn (202)224-2934 office, (202) 228-2856 Fax
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (202)224-5922 office, (202) 224-0776 Fax
Send faxes/emails if you cannot get thru on the phone! Demand they vote "no" to amnesty or you will vote them out!!!
It will be voted on by Senate members on Friday May 25th so we have a short time to do anything we can to stop this madness! This Bill is the "brainchild" of misguided Senators John McCain R-AZ and Ted Kennedy D-MA, with co-authors Senator Alan Specter R-PA, Senator Lindsey Graham R-SC, Senator Mel Martinez R-FL, Senator Jon Kyl R-AZ and Rep. Jeff Flake, R-AZ. You can Google any of them and get their email and other contact info from the U.S. government website. Flood their emails and their other contact methods! Tell them they will be voted out if they backstab the American people like this!! Wake up, people! Your country is being dismantled and given away to illegals right before your very eyes. But we still have a small window to save it. A VERY small window.
Very well put. Bush IS ignoring the will of the American people and is pursuing his own agenda, completely oblivious of what We The People want. We have lost our voice and I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of our corrupt political system and as a taxpaying, law abiding American Citizen I demand to have my voice heard again!!! I think we ALL need to remind Congress of their role in preserving the Constitution. Until now, I have sent them letters demanding they do something to secure our borders and stop the flood of illegals. Maybe we should redirect their efforts to take more drastic meausures. It's time for more letters and phone calls. 2dogs is right. Wake up people, before it's too late.
Amen 2dogs. I have sent letters to both the Representatives in my district and made phone calls and written letters to other key players who feel the same way we do. They are out there but can only do so much. They have opposition from many fronts, including liberal Democrats who see the flood of illegals as millions of future voters. That is precisely why you don't hear a peep from the Dems about Ramos, Compeon, Hernandez, etc. Protesting what happened to them might endanger their future voting base so they stay quiet. It is truly dispicable. What George Bush sees in them remains somewhat of a mystery but one thing is certain, he wants the flood to continue unabated. I am a regular talk radio listener (where the REAL news is found) and there are callers starting to ask about impeachment of the President for blatant disregard of border security and trampling on the rights of AMERICAN CITIZENS and for not doing his SWORN DUTY to uphold the Constitution and protect the sovereignty of our nation and the rights of it's citizens. I'm not sure this country will survive another 2 years of Bush. Something has to give, and soon.
They would have alot to overcome....not just from liberal Democrats who see illegals as millions of potential future voters instead of what they really are, which is a serious threat to the sovereignty and security of this nation...they would face tremendous opposition from the ACLU, Latino special interest groups, the Mexican government, businesses that profit from hiring or soliciting illegals...and even some so-called Republicans that favor amnesty for unknown reasons. They would definitely have to stand their ground and prepare for a tough fight on many fronts. But wow, what a "dream team" that would be, huh? Any one of those three you mentioned have my support 100%.
Relatively new to the wonderful world of firearms and I have a pretty simple question that I have heard both yeas and nays on. I recently bought a Ruger P95D 9mm and I really like it so far, it seems to be pretty accurate and reliable after running about 1000 rounds of practice ammo thru it. My wife needs to feel comfortable shooting it, otherwise I would have gone with a bigger caliber. My question is, I haven't got my CHL (yet) but I like to keep it close at hand at home and I keep both magazines loaded, just not in the gun, since I haven't figured out a way to quickly load the magazines and I doubt the bad guys will give me time to load up should I ever have any uninvited guests. Does keeping the magazines loaded weaken the springs in the magazine? I'm sure for extended periods it would but I usually go to the range every week or two so they get some "exercise" then. Thanks in advance for any replies,
